Strategy Analytics claimed iPhone 5 sold approximately 27.4 million units in the quarter. While the Galaxy S III sold 15.4 million units, down from the previous quarter the amount of 18 million units.

The position of the Galaxy S III in the fourth quarter of 2012 even overtaken the iPhone 4S which sold 17.4 million units. Previously, S III managed to beat sales of the iPhone 4S and he became the best-selling smartphone in the world in the third quarter of 2012.
Strategy Analytics assess sales Galaxy S III is already reached its peak and showing signs of decline. Moreover, this Android-based handsets have been circulating for almost a year.
"Galaxy S III proved to be very popular with consumers in North America, Europe and Asia. Yet global demand for Galaxy S III appears to have reached its peak," said Neil Mawston, director of Strategy Analytics.
While the new iPhone 5 release in late 2012. iPhone 5 was hard to shake the throne of Galaxy S III, but is now able to do so.
